excellent product September 16, 2007 BPT 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I tried less expensive FM transmitters and had spotty, static filled performance from each. I then decided to spend a little bit more on this one, and it was well worth it. I get clear reception even on major stations in my area. Highly recommend
DLO 005-2120 TransDock micro for the E2xx, C2xx October 2, 2007 Audio Book Nut (Alaska) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The DLO 005-2120 TransDock micro for the E2xx, C2xx works as expected. I previously had an FM transmitter to allow listening to my Sansa C250 in my car but there was no way to charge the Sansa and listen at the same time. The DLO Trans dock does just that so when I'm listening to audio books on long trips I never have to worry about the battery in the Sansa running down.
Transdock for Sansa.... May 27, 2008 j.m. (Chicago, IL United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought one for my wife first to use in her car. Works great! I then tried in my car (dodge magnum wagon) which has the FM antenna in the glass of the back window. Other FM transmitters I've tried did not work well. The DLO however has enough signal strength to produce a relatively clean signal even in a crowded FM band (like chicago & burbs).
Pros:
* Good signal strength
* Easy to see display
* Well constructed
* Adjustable angle in regards to 12v plug & display
* Removable USB cable (might also work as a "sync" cable for the sansa)
Cons:
* Unclear programming instructions.
Note:
* If you turn the Sansa OFF while plugged in it will go into
"standby" mode. I usually unplug the Sansa and then turn it
off.
Programming FM frequency tips:
The provided instructions aren't very clear. So here's how to program the Transdock -
Plug in the Transdock, but don't connect the Sansa yet.
1) Find one to four clear FM frequencies (go to DLO's site and find "OpenFM", it will help you find them)
2) Set your car radio to an open frequency
3) Press BOTH buttons on the Transdock to select the "preset" that you want to program the frequence into.
4) Use the left (freq down) or right (freq up) buttons to match the frequency on your car radio.
5) Connect the Sansa and shortly after that you should hear the Sansa on your car radio.
6) Press & hold BOTH buttons at the same time until the Transdock's display temporarily shows the preset you're programming.
Repeat as necessary, up to four times.

I've used several FM Transmitters for MP3 players and this one by far is the best so far. Add the strong signal, frequency steps, charging of MP3 player and overall ease of use this item is worth it.
I have two primary presets for my area and in town I can use either with no bleed from other stations except in rare instances. I can travel to visit family over an hour away and not have to switch from my primary preset which is in the 104.x range so don't always try to stick with the lower frequencies.
My Sansa stays charged and if I forget to carry my USB sync cable the cable from the Transdock will work.
Downside: The only problem I have with the product is they should have a LED dimmer, on/off or something as the light is pretty bright at night and who needs to see the channel your on once it's set so timing the LED off after 10 secs would have been nice.

I really like this product -- I highly recommend it to anyone with a Sansa MP3 player. I have heard other FM transmitters and I'm most impressed with the quality of sound on this product for the price. This product works well in the Chicagoland, Los Angeles and San Diego area.
FM transmitters seem to be influenced by many variables. If you can, I would recommend borrowing an FM transmitter from a friend so you can experience how it works in your car and in your area. If you don't have that luxury, I would recommend this as a calculated gamble. I've used it in 2 large cities and have had minor inconveniences -- due to a lack of a free station, not due to a lack of quality.
Pros:
--Designed specifically for Sansa. However -- you could purchase any DLO FM transmitter and use the Line In port on the back. (Line in cord NOT included).
--As mentioned above, the bottom of this has 2 ports for other devices. There is a line in for another MP3 player -- if your friend has an iPod, no problem. There is a line for a tape deck as well.
--You can use this to provide power to ANY USB device. If you unplug the cord that goes to the MP3 player from the unit, there's a USB port.
--Preset stations.
--Easy to use.
--Excellent instructions, and a website to help find the best station in your area.
--Charges your MP3 player too.
Cons:
--Can lose a signal in a highly populated area with a lot of radio stations. This will happen with ALL FM transmitters -- part of the deal. If this is a key area, I would recommend purchasing a new stereo that is designed to work with MP3 players.
--Setting the preset is a little tricky.
